"The Chili Bowl is more than just chili," says Joan Riebel, Jack's mother. "It is about coming together to support the Saint Paul College culinary arts program, to enjoy a competition, and to be nourished with wonderful chilis and a glass of beer."

Twin Cities’ Top Chefs Face Off in Chili Showdown
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Saint Paul, Minn. – 09.30.2024 – The Chef Jack Chili Bowl, taking place on October 13th from 3 pm to 6 pm at Saint Paul College, is a unique event bringing together 12 of the Twin Cities’ top chefs to compete for the title of “Best F’N Chili.” This gathering of culinary talent features chefs from renowned restaurants like Oro by Nixta, Revival, Tilia, and Butcher & the Boar.
This event honors the legacy of Chef Jack Riebel, a vanguard of the Twin Cities culinary community. Riebel, a James Beard Award nominee, was known for his passion, mentorship, and dedication to the culinary arts. He was a driving force behind the reopening of The Lexington in St. Paul. He held positions at notable restaurants, including Butcher & the Boar, the Dakota Jazz Club, and La Belle Vie.
“This event is one-of-a-kind, just like Chef Jack,” says Saint Paul College President Deidra Peaslee. “How often do you get the area’s best chefs in the same room, all aligned with the same purpose—to make some amazing chili and to ensure that the Twin Cities culinary arts scene thrives? We are both proud of Jack’s legacy and the future he is helping us co-create.”
The Chili Bowl continues Riebel’s commitment to culinary education by supporting his alma mater – the Saint Paul College Culinary Arts program – providing scholarships for aspiring chefs. Attendees can expect to sample various chili styles, from traditional to innovative, showcasing the chefs’ creativity and culinary expertise.
